Inspect your display one pattern at a time

Select a solid color, then enter full screen if your browser supports it. Look over the entire display for unusually dark, bright, or colored dots. Use Previous pattern and Next pattern, or focus the preview and use arrow keys. Escape or Exit full screen returns to the page. Patterns change only when you request it.

Preparing the screen

Gently clean the display using the manufacturer's recommended method before interpreting a tiny mark. Dust, fingerprints, reflections, and surface damage can resemble pixel faults. Use a comfortable brightness and view the screen straight on. If inspecting a particular monitor in a multi-monitor setup, move the browser window onto that display before entering full screen.

Worked example: a dark dot on white

Start with White and inspect a suspicious dark dot. Switch to Red, Green, and Blue while watching the same location. If the mark stays in the same physical position across patterns, inspect it more closely and compare against nearby surface dust. A dot visible only on one color may involve a subpixel. Record your observations rather than assuming that one pattern proves a particular failure.

Choosing useful patterns

White makes dark marks easier to see; Black can reveal bright or stuck-looking points. Red, Green, and Blue help isolate differences across color components. Gray provides another uniform surface for observing conspicuous patches. Grid offers a simple reference for lines and geometry. It is not a calibrated resolution chart, and browser scaling can affect how grid lines appear.

Dead versus stuck pixels

People often call any persistent dot a dead pixel, but a permanently dark point and a point stuck on a color are different observations. Individual display technologies also behave differently. This tool supplies test patterns for your eyes; it does not read the panel's electronics or classify faults. Check manufacturer guidance if a warranty or return decision depends on the number and type of defects.

Limitations and full-screen behavior

The page cannot automatically detect defective pixels, repair them, or establish compliance with a manufacturer's policy. Full-screen support varies, especially on mobile devices, and browser controls may briefly cover part of the screen. Use the browser's own full-screen function if the button is unavailable. The exit button occupies a small corner during full-screen testing, so inspect that area separately after moving or resizing the browser.

Does it flash colors to repair the screen?

No. It uses static patterns with manual transitions and makes no pixel-repair claim.

Can I test a phone or television?

You can inspect any display showing the page, subject to its browser controls and scaling. Results remain a visual check.

Why is the grid uneven?

Browser zoom, operating-system scaling, and display scaling can change line appearance. Use solid colors for individual-dot inspection.
