Elapsed days and calendar age answer different questions
Elapsed days counts midnight-to-midnight date intervals. Calendar age describes completed years, months, and days by advancing through the calendar. Because months and years vary in length, a calendar age cannot be converted to total days with one fixed multiplier.
Worked example
From July 1 through July 11, standard elapsed time is 10 days: ten midnight boundaries have passed. Inclusive counting reports 11 because it treats July 1 and July 11 as counted calendar dates. The completed-week display is one week plus three days for the standard count.
Leap years are included automatically
The date difference includes February 29 whenever it falls inside the interval. Someone born before a leap day may therefore have 366 elapsed days across a leap-year span rather than 365. The browser's calendar handles those varying year lengths; the tool does not assume every year has the same number of days.

Calendar-age conventions for leap-day birthdays differ by context. This page clamps a missing anniversary day to the last valid day of February while building its years-months-days breakdown. Laws, benefit programs, competitions, and institutions may instead recognize March 1 or apply their own rule. Use the total-day count for pure elapsed time and consult the governing policy when legal age matters.
When inclusive counting makes sense
Inclusive counts are common for attendance windows, travel days, medication schedules, and events where any part of both endpoint dates counts. Age and duration usually use elapsed counting. State which method you used when sharing a number, especially when a one-day difference affects a deadline or milestone.
Accuracy and limitations
Calculations use date-only UTC values, avoiding daylight-saving changes that can make a local day appear to contain 23 or 25 hours. No birth time, current time, time zone, historical calendar, or location is considered. The result is informational and should not determine legal eligibility, medical dosing, benefits, identity verification, or official age without checking the relevant authority.

Elapsed age is zero days on the birth date. Inclusive calendar counting would count that date as one.
Does the result include leap days?
Yes. Every actual calendar day between the dates contributes to elapsed time.
Why not multiply years by 365?
Leap years and partial calendar years make that shortcut inaccurate.
