Unit-price formula
Unit price equals package price divided by quantity in the package. A $6 package containing 24 ounces costs $0.25 per ounce. The base-unit label describes the values; it does not convert between ounces, pounds, sheets, loads, servings, or other measures.
Worked example
Option A costs $7.50 for 30 ounces, or $0.25 per ounce. Option B costs $6.40 for 24 ounces, or about $0.2667 per ounce. Option A is cheaper by about 1.67 cents per ounce, even though its package price is higher.
Put quantities on equal footing
Convert quantities before entering them when labels differ. For example, compare 24 ounces with 1.5 pounds only after converting both to ounces or both to pounds. Compare usable quantity, not misleading package dimensions or a count of multipacks that ignores units inside each pack.
Cheapest is not always best value
A lower unit price helps only when the product is comparable and you can use the quantity. Quality, concentration, durability, yield, expiration, storage, return terms, and personal preference may matter more. Waste from an oversized package can erase nominal savings.
Taxes, coupons, and deposits
Enter the effective price you want compared. Subtract discounts and add unavoidable per-package charges if they belong in your decision. Sales tax may apply differently across products or locations, so include it only when you have a consistent basis for both options.

This page handles positive price and amount values and one optional comparison. It does not fetch store prices, interpret package labels, normalize units, apply tiered promotions, include membership costs, or judge product equivalence. Inputs remain in the browser.
