Put a set of photos on printable pages

Choose your photos, adjust their order with Earlier and Later, then select rows, columns, and paper size. Create the contact sheet to see its first-page preview and download the full PDF. Each thumbnail keeps its proportions, and filename captions help you find the original afterward.

A proof sheet rather than a collage

A contact sheet is an index for choosing and discussing pictures. It leaves space around thumbnails instead of cropping them to fill a decorative grid. A photographer can mark preferred images, a teacher can print a class reference sheet, and someone organizing a folder can keep a visual inventory. The PDF contains thumbnail copies; it does not package the original-resolution photos.

Worked example: seven photos

Select seven photos and set two columns and three rows. Six photos fill the first page and the seventh starts the second. Changing to three columns and three rows puts all seven on one page. Move the last photo earlier to change its place before processing again. When filenames are enabled, the caption under each thumbnail identifies its source. Numbers-only captions follow the displayed order.

Page size and image fitting

Choose US Letter or A4 portrait pages. Each page is rendered at 150 DPI with margins and a caption area. Photos are scaled to fit inside their cells without cutting away edges. Portrait photos leave more horizontal space, while wide photos leave more vertical space. Increasing the number of rows or columns makes individual previews smaller, so use fewer cells when details matter.

Names and ordering

The initial order follows the browser's selected-file list. Use the visible order controls if sequence matters; do not assume every operating system returns files in the same order. Long captions are shortened with an ellipsis to fit their cells. Rename unusually similar files before processing if the shortened names would become ambiguous. Changing files or settings removes the previous download until a new sheet is created.

Privacy and limitations

Choose up to 40 photos totaling 80 MB, with no more than 24 million pixels per decoded image. Supported inputs are JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF. HEIC conversion happens locally and some encodings may be unsupported. The sheet uses a white background and flattens transparent areas onto it. PDF pages are rendered images, so captions are visible but not selectable text. Color appearance can vary between screens and printers.

Contact Sheet Generator FAQ

Does the preview show every page?

No. It shows the first page. The summary reports the full page count; open the downloaded PDF to review the remaining pages.

Will this upload private photos?

No. Processing occurs in this tab. Closing or navigating away discards the current result, so save the PDF before leaving.

Can I print without filenames?

Choose Numbers only. This keeps a short reference under each image without displaying its filename.
