Fix one sideways photo or rotate a batch

Choose JPG, PNG, or WebP images, select a 90-degree or 180-degree rotation, optionally add a horizontal or vertical flip, and choose Rotate images. The transform is baked into new pixels instead of relying on orientation metadata.

Why photos appear sideways

Many cameras store pixels in one direction and add an EXIF orientation instruction. Apps that ignore or remove that instruction may display a portrait photo sideways. Redrawing the pixels in their intended direction creates a copy that looks consistent even when metadata is unavailable.

Rotation versus flipping

Rotate right or left when the top of the image points sideways. Rotate 180 degrees when it is upside down. Horizontal flip creates a mirror image from left to right; vertical flip reverses top and bottom. Flipping is not an orientation repair and can reverse text, logos, handedness, and identifying details.

Worked batch example

A scanner produced twenty receipts sideways. Select all twenty, choose 90 degrees right, leave flip set to No flip, and process the batch. Results download together in a ZIP. Open the first and last file before discarding scans, because mixed source orientation requires separate jobs.

Dimensions and file format

A quarter turn swaps width and height; a half turn keeps them unchanged. Keeping the source format reduces compatibility surprises, though every result is newly encoded. JPEG and WebP quality can change size and fine detail. PNG output stays lossless but may be large for photographs.

Private browser processing

Rotation and flipping use the browser canvas and locally stored encoders. Images are not uploaded. Re-encoding normally strips EXIF, GPS, comments, embedded thumbnails, and color-profile records. Stored orientation is normalized before the chosen transform is applied.

Limitations and assumptions

One setting applies to an entire batch, so files facing different directions should be processed separately. This tool offers quarter and half turns, not arbitrary horizon straightening. Each static file is limited to 30 MB and 40 megapixels. Animated images are rejected rather than flattened.
