Numbered List Maker
Numbered List Maker number each pasted line make ordered list text add sequential labelsAdd sequential numbers to separate lines
Paste one item per line, choose the first integer and marker style, then select Number list. Blank lines are skipped and the remaining lines keep their original order.
Numbering is plain text
The result adds a visible marker to each line. It is not an interactive HTML list, spreadsheet formula, or document outline. Plain text travels well through email, chat, issue trackers, and notes, but the destination application may wrap long lines or apply its own automatic list formatting.
Transformation rules
Leading and trailing spaces are removed from each input line, and empty lines are omitted. Numbering begins at the entered whole integer and increases by one for every kept line. Duplicate lines remain separate and receive separate numbers.
Worked example
Enter “Confirm date,” “Book room,” and “Send invitation.” With start number 4 and parenthesis style, the result is “4) Confirm date,” “5) Book room,” and “6) Send invitation.” Selecting period style changes only the marker.
Choosing a start number
A custom start is useful when continuing a list from another section or preparing a second batch. Negative and zero starts are accepted because technical steps, drafts, and indexes sometimes use them. Check whether the final destination expects numbering to begin at one.
Copying into rich-text editors
Some editors recognize markers such as “1.” and replace them with automatic numbering. That can be convenient, but it may renumber a custom start or change indentation. Paste as plain text or disable automatic formatting when the exact visible markers matter.
Privacy and limitations
Transformation happens in the page and is not intentionally uploaded. The tool does not make nested lists, letters, Roman numerals, leading-zero padding, headings, columns, or downloadable documents. Clipboard managers and destination applications handle copied text separately.
