Why random words can work well

A passphrase can be easier to type and remember than a short jumble while still drawing strength from length and unpredictable choices. Randomness is the important part. A favorite quotation, lyric, address, pet sequence, or common saying may be long but remains guessable because its words are related and publicly familiar.

How this generator chooses

The page uses the browser's cryptographic random source to select independent entries from a fixed local list of ordinary words. It does not fetch words from a server. Choices use rejection sampling to avoid favoring some list positions. Capitalization and an optional number can help satisfy site rules, but the random word sequence carries most of the value.

Worked example

A six-word result might resemble harbor-linen-maple-orbit-copper-thunder. The exact phrase shown here is an illustration and should not be used as a password because it is now public. Your generated output will use a fresh random selection. If you add a number, it appears as another separated element at the end.

Use a unique phrase for every account

Never reuse an important passphrase. A breach at one service can expose credentials that attackers try elsewhere. A password manager is the safest place to store unique account credentials and can usually generate longer random passwords when memorability is unnecessary. Enable multifactor authentication where available.

Site rules and practical typing

Some services reject spaces, impose maximum lengths, or demand a symbol and digit. Pick a supported separator and use the number option only when needed. Before saving a new credential, check keyboard layout, capitalization, and mobile entry. Long passphrases can be troublesome on devices that hide input or silently insert spaces.

Security limits

This tool cannot evaluate the security of your device, browser extensions, clipboard, screen recording, malware, shoulder surfing, or the service storing the credential. Generated text appears on screen and may enter clipboard history when copied. Clear it from shared devices. The included word list is smaller than specialized audited Diceware lists, so use more words for important accounts and follow your organization's password policy.
