Rehearse with a scrolling script

Paste your script, choose a comfortable text size and scroll speed, then start. While the script area has focus, Space pauses or resumes and Home returns to the beginning. You can also use the visible buttons. Mirror mode reverses the displayed text for a reflective prompter setup.

Match the screen to your delivery

Scroll speed is measured in pixels per second. Text size, line wrapping and screen width all affect how quickly words move past your reading position. Begin slowly, read a paragraph aloud and adjust until you can speak naturally. Manual scrolling or touching the prompter pauses automatic movement, so you can reposition without fighting the animation.

Worked example: a short introduction

A script of 260 whitespace-separated words at an entered speaking pace of 130 words per minute has an estimated speaking time of two minutes. That estimate does not set the scrolling speed. If you enlarge the text, more lines are needed for the same script, and you may need a faster pixel speed to maintain the same spoken pace. Practice on the screen and orientation you intend to use.

Pause without losing your place

Start resumes from the current scroll position. Back to start stops movement and returns to the top. Space works only when the prompter area is focused; typing spaces into the script editor will not start playback. Switching away from the browser tab pauses scrolling to avoid returning to a script that has advanced unexpectedly. Changes to the script or settings also stop movement while you adjust them.

Mirror and full-screen display

Horizontal mirror mode is intended for equipment that reflects a screen through glass. The script in the editor remains readable and unchanged. Full screen expands the reading area when the browser supports it. Escape normally leaves full screen; browser and device policies can limit availability. The inline prompter remains usable when full screen is unavailable.

Limitations and preparation

Scripts are limited to 100,000 characters. This tool displays plain text and preserves paragraph breaks, but does not format imported documents or follow a speaker’s voice. It does not record video, use a microphone or synchronize with a camera. Speaking time is an estimate based on word count and the pace you enter, without accounting for audience responses, deliberate pauses or difficult passages.

Your script stays in the current page and is not saved to an account. Keep a separate copy before closing or refreshing. Check device sleep settings, screen orientation, brightness and reading distance before a recording. A rehearsal will reveal awkward line breaks or a pace that looks comfortable silently but feels rushed aloud.

Teleprompter FAQ

Can I control it with a keyboard?

Yes. Focus the reading area, then use Space and Home. Arrow keys can also scroll using the browser’s normal focused-region behavior.

Does mirror mode change my source script?

No. Only the reading display is mirrored; the editor retains normal text.
