Create a silent copy of a video
Choose and preview a video, then press Remove Audio. The local engine copies its picture stream into a new MP4 while omitting audio. The result keeps the source base name with a -muted.mp4 suffix.
Why removing a track differs from lowering volume
Setting player volume to zero only changes playback. This tool removes the audio stream from the output container, so another viewer cannot turn it back up. That is useful for silent demonstrations, background loops, visual references, and clips whose recorded conversation should not be shared.
Worked example: share a screen demonstration
A short screen recording contains useful cursor movement but also captures room conversation. After processing, the MP4 retains the video timeline and no longer contains the selected audio stream. Confirm the downloaded copy in a separate player before sending it, and keep the original if you may need narration later.
Fast stream copying
When the source video stream is compatible with MP4, the tool copies compressed video packets rather than decoding and re-encoding every frame. That is faster and avoids another generation of visual loss. Some unusual codecs or containers cannot be copied into MP4; those files will fail instead of being mislabeled.
Privacy does not replace review
Processing is local, but removing audio does not remove information visible in frames. Names, notifications, faces, reflections, and captions may still disclose private details. Watch the entire result. Muting also does not erase subtitles, chapter titles, or other metadata that may exist in the source container.
Compatibility and limitations
The browser loads a local FFmpeg WebAssembly engine and keeps temporary files in memory. Inputs may be up to 200 MB. Large videos can strain phones even when stream copying is quick. The first video stream is kept, all audio is omitted, and the output is MP4. Keep the source because the operation is not reversible from the silent copy.
